If you love to play Scrabble, then you likely enjoy many other word games as well. As my fellow wordsmiths, I’m sure you tend to geek out on these types of games as often as I do myself.
But if you’re new to Scrabble, you may not be aware of all the other great online word games out there for you to enjoy. Which is why I want to share some of my favorites with you today.
By the way, many of these games will actually help you become a better Scrabble player and really make a difference when trying to hone your word game skills.
Super Letter Linker
This one is from GameHouse and is one of my personal favorites, aside from Scrabble. Basically, you get a few minutes to find as many words as you can spot and must score enough points in each round to move onto the next level.
There is also untimed version which allows you to try finding all the words present in a smaller grid than the timed version.
Both are tons of fun and I believe you can play the online version at the GameHouse website. If you want to play the full version, you’ll have to either buy the download or I hear there is a very amazing GameHouse torrent floating around out there (which I may have downloaded in the past) which will allow you to play the original version of Super Letter Linker for free.
This is a fun, fast-paced word game that spits out letters at you and requires you to create as many words as possible before your rack fills up. You get extra points for clearing all the letters before the next one shows up, and each tile has a point value which determines the scoring for each word you form.
This one is very addicting and is 100% free to play online.
Another favorite from the developers at Gamehouse, Word Slinger is a great choice for improving your Scrabble skills. You basically start out with a blank board, and they give you a list of words to place on the board.
Each level requires you to fill the board with more words than the previous, forcing you to get incredibly creative and form what would be a parallel move, if you were playing Scrabble. This can really help you to start seeing how words can be placed on top and alongside each other to form several new words in a single move.
Note: this game is included in the torrent linked to above as well.
This is a great game for expanding your vocabulary and becoming a stronger Scrabble player. You are given the first letter of a word along with the dictionary definition. It’s up to you to figure out what the full word is, and type it into the box.
You only have a minute to start with, and a few seconds are added each time you get a correct answer, so the faster you figure out the words, the more time you will have if you get stuck on one. You can also pass words if you’re totally stumped.
Have you tried playing any of these online word games? Did I leave any gems out of this list? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
